No Hope... by KT-245 No Hope... by KT-245
Surrounded on all sides by mortal enemies, the heroes despair in their own helplessness, lamenting that all must be lost. But even here, a slim ray of hope penetrates the curtain of darkness for the heart of one naive enough to see it...

Warning: Some mid-game spoilers for PMD Time/Darkness/Sky!

Old ambitious fan art is old... but I just couldn't leave this unfinished, It was so epic.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky had such an epic, epic plot line, I never thought I'd see a Pokemon game with a narrative on par with the kinds of tales in certain other JPG RPG's. But Explorers of Time had me emotionally involved. The music is incredible as well. It's really too bad that the game play (in a word, it sucks, i tolerate it but it isn't very fun) is so weak, or this game may have made it unto my all-time favorites.

This piece features a pivotal scene mid way through the game, in which you and your comrades are sandwiched between the forces of darkness and seem ready to give up hope. It was standout scene for me, second only to the tear jerker finale. Here is my Team Red Thunder (lol cheesy name much?) with Kate the Pikachu (me, with a slight variation on my real name) and Blaze the Torchic (partner).

The lineart is old, and the background was difficult, but I hope you enjoy it anyway, I spent way too many hours on this. Also huge file is huge.

Love how you look at them like you're one of the sableye.
Those sableye were the only part I had to try three times before beating them.
Too bad it wasn't possible to recruit one.

Thanks!

And I thought you could recruit every type of Pokemon in that game... that's too bad.

I guess you can get a sableye somewhere, but if you want one of dusknoir's sableye it isn't possible, because you can't rebattle them.

Okay first, this made me think of a group I just joined into, #PMD-Explorers. If you love the games you should definitely join this group. It is.. amazing! You basically make your own team of pokemon (only base forms, no evolutions and no legendaries with no restriction to just starters) and get to decide on their whole team in terms of their personality, moves, and so on. With this team, the group has missions that they give to the teams. There are Rescuers, Rogues, and Merchants and each one has a different mission to go on and right now we are on Mission 2 with about a month left to finish it. You go on the mission in a comic or in written form and while you just have so much damn fun having your characters evolve in the RP based mission, at the end, the group will judge who had the best mission. I don't know that there are prizes but soon there will be evolutions and supposedly, every mission you participate in let's you add another accessory to your team and right now there is a side quest that you get to add a third pokemon to your team (only two on the team to start out with).

Er... anyway... bout the picture. I think this was actually one of my least favorite parts of the game. I was so pissed off at the game when after so much crap throughout the whole adventure.. NOW... NOW is when Grovyle gives up and against your will your own character gives up and the all powerful Celebi gives up. It's like.. what the hell?! Don't give a shit that Primal Dialga is standing on the mountain and we are surrounded by both Dusknoir and the sableeyes, to hell with giving up I'm going to kick all their asses and reverse time! /endrage

Wonderful work overall with the picture, great shadows, great lighting, wonderful effect all around and you've done an amazing job by including all of the characters seen in this scene including Primal Dialga. Can't say much more than that since I've given you a recommendation to join an awesome guild and a heartfelt rant. =D

I have seen that group, and yes it looks awesome! But I have commitment issues, so I have only eyed it from a distance... maybe I should join...

And thank you! Also ya, it was a little weird of the brave characters to all give up at that moment (sans partner) but they WHERE pretty screwed. I can see Grovyle in particular finally reaching the end of his rope, but Celebi and your character could have had a little more faith.

It's not even that, it's more like, they gave up to the point they wouldn't even try to survive, they would just lay on the ground and let the sableeye slit their throats without a budge. Complete faith destruction is never appealing. It would have gone better if they were very, very skeptical of getting out alive and would try but all where nervous because they knew they were beat, then it would have been better but how it was... ugh...

Actually I kind of like the feel of hopeless desperation. XD Which is probably why I choose this scene out of many to illustrate.
